I’m Marrian James, a photographer and art director drawn to people, intimate moments and the quiet tension between closeness and distance. My practice explores longing, desire and human presence through cinematic light, colour and carefully constructed visual worlds.
Photography is where I work most instinctively, while art direction allows me to shape the wider story around an image. I’m interested in work that feels lived rather than performed -fragments of skin, movement, places and relationships that hold something unresolved. Moving between portraiture, personal archives and visual storytelling, I develop concepts from their first emotional impulse through to their final visual expression.
un.archived is an evolving home for this practice - a space for ongoing series, individual photographs, visual experiments and collaborations. I’m available for editorial and brand commissions, art direction, portraits, exhibitions and publishing projects.
